* The Nora Batty Challenge- just like Nora's stockings, it's 1 mile of either up or down! This is an ADDITIONAL event for fun from the same location on road that we've added. It'll be a voluntary mass start after you're all back from the trail between (this is approximate!!) 1-2pm on a narrow traffic free lane. No entry fee for this AND there wwill be spot prizes to some winners AND losers!
* Trail route- has now been tested by three testers. You will not get lost as long as you can read. Distance is 8.6 miles. At time of typing this (23.9.07) you could run it in your carpet slippers.
* Private paths and trails- there are several private tracks and paths on this trail. Access has kindly been allowed on race day only by farmers Martin Matthews, Simon Marriage, Chris Simpson and Peter Matthews.
* Water Stop There will be a self serve stop at approximately five miles
* EssexAir Ambulance- As you all already know, all proceeds will go to this worthy cause. The helicopter running costs are funded 100% by donations such as ours. As countryside runners, we benfit from it's availability. Please bring any loose change that yyou have lying about the house/car. There will be a donation box. There will also be an Essex Air Ambulance spokeman available to answer any questions that you may have
* Batty Burgers will be availailable at £2 e.
* parking- different field to last year but will be signposted. Plenty of space
* Bring a bottle/friends/chairs and stay for as long as you like

THE MAGNIFICENT 7 ROUTE DESCRIPTION FROM THE BLACK BULL, FYFIELD NR. ONGAR

Each paragraph represents approximately one mile. 1 leave pub, TR, X RD and continue SA along lane opposite. As it bears R, continue SA on RD becoming gravel TK then very rutted. Ignore L and R TKs eventually passing Maltings Farm on R. At RD junction TL, becomes TK 2 Continue SA. At RD TL. At FPSP TR onto RHFE. Ignore hedge gap in FD corner and continue on RHFE, hedge on R. SA, ignoring WM on R. As hedge approaches, bear R onto LHFE, hedge on L. At RD and old caravan thing, TR. 3 100m after Corbert’s on R, TR at hidden and probably still broken FPSP and X FD in directed way, no visible path, to WM eventually in the distance. At WM TR onto LHFE, ditch/ hedge on L. At FD corner, continue SA X FD passing L of large oak tree to X FB onto LHFE, BEWARE HOLES! soon TL X FB, immediately TR onto RHFE. At FD corner continue SA to WM and TL onto LHFE, wood on L 4 As wood ends, TR with TK onto LHFE eventually to RD. CROSS RD WITH CARE and TL onto grass bank. TR at TP onto RHFE, ditch on R. TR at TK and immediately TR into FD then TL onto LHFE, soon church on L. At hedge end and WM on L, continue slightly R X FD on visible path ignoring all tractor Xings. 5 As path ends, continue SA into next FD on RHFE. Ignore TK on R and continue SA on RHFE. X 2nd FB on R and continue on path thru’ wood. At path junction and hidden triple WM on R, TR and immediately TL. Continue SA pass WM by tree to X FB with WM onto LHFE. X FB, TL onto LHFE, BEWARE BADGER SETS! To RD. SELF SERVICE DRINK STATION.EMPTY CUPS IN BINLINER PLS. 6 TR for 800m then TL at FPSP on L. X ST, X FD, thru’ open gate, SA X FD, to X FB in FD corner. TL on enclosed path. X FB on R. TL, WM, onto LHFE. Eventually up steps and TR on RD. TL at black FPSP into Hydes. TR after 50m and TP to X FD passing fence/garden on L then faint path to continue SA thru hedge gap then hedge on L and TR at WM on R onto RHFE. 7 X FB on R, up steps, X FD path. TL at WM onto RHFE. X FB on R to TL at RD then TL at RD junction. TR at FPSP, X FB, continue SA X 2 FDs then X grass at WM to gates and TL at RD WITH CARE . TR at FPSP along house drive passing L of house X garden to gap in L corner then onto LHFE. 8 Soon conifers on L, fence on R. At TK junction TL, 5m, TR. At TK junction continue SA to X FB then half R X FD, X ST, X FB, X ST, half L, X FD, X ST and finish!!!! WELL DONE!!!! 7.38 bandit miles.
